Sir:
I am not trying to be a smart aleck and hope I don't appear that way but I looked some of your stuff over on your site and the prices seem to run a bit more than some other places I have been shopping.
If you don't mind, could you tell me why I should get your stuff and not the stuff marked lower in price? Again, please do not take offense but you must respect a man looking for the best bargain in these times. If your stuff is of better quality, I can understand this as I have always subscribed to the old saying that the sour taste of a bad product will remain long after the sweetness of a good price is long gone.

Not answering for Robert, but he sells products made by Nick Sekela whom I have known for all these years. Nick's products are one of the best in the hobby. Well researched and authentic, plus like I said I own many of Nick's products and they have held up well over the years and they look good. Hence, you do pay a little more, but it is worth it.

Dennis,

I would certainly hope you have heard of Nick Sekela if you have been a reenactor for any substantial amount of time.  His work is museum grade and probably the highest quality available. That goes for Chris Daley, Dan Wambaugh, Todd Morris, etc...whom are all good friends of mine.  Each high grade maker has their own "signature" in the business.

Simply put...you get what you pay for.

Indeed, all of Nick Sekela's items are extensively researched. Nick either has a sample of the original item in his collection or he has extensively studied orginial pieces from other collections. His workmanship and quality are excellent.

I certainly appreciate the replies and I hope no offence was taken.  I first started reenacting back in 1983 and back then C & D Jarnagin was about the only place I recall selling reenacting equipment. Employment got in the way for several years although I did periodically make it out to an event. I still have the brogans I bought back then although they spend one month a year in a museum display.
Thanks again for the replies.

No problem Danny, welcome back to the hobby. Prices have jumped a bit in the past few years. The RD you asked about that I am selling for $180 is comperable to what many other places are selling for $200+.

  Hallo!

I would have to get in line to praise or compliment Mr. Sekela's offerings.

(Plus, IMHO, $180 is cheaper than some businesses charge who add their own fee of 20% to the $180 or so some makers charge.)

Yes, the choices to reenactors and living historians has changed quite a bit since the early 1980's...
