Something a little unusual is about to happen, no you won't be seeing double but we will be at two events simultaneously. Lori and I are going to be at Resaca and the man himself, Nick Sekela will be at New Market the weekend of the May 16th and 17th, Look for the bright yellow banner in front of the small tents on Sutler Row, stop in and say hi. Our tents may not be big, but the merchandise under them is incredible. Some items I know we will have in stock and ready to go include new items such as: wooden match safes, hand tied cartridge tubes, civilian shirts, forage caps, officer rank straps, new styles of civilian trousers, and much much more. Unique to Resaca, I will have on hand a sample of the fabulous Godey's smoking cap. You have seen it on the web site but pictures do not do this work of art justice. Of course the one I have is for sale, but I will be taking orders for them in your size. I also have just a few of the RD 2 jackets left so if you did not get one before, your chances are almost up. It may be quite a while before we have these again and I doubt we will ever be able to offer them at the fantastic price we have now. Nick is planning on having Ron Coddington with him to autograph copies of his new book, if you are at Resaca and want a signed copy, it can be ordered there as well (I may have a couple of signed copies ahead of time). Nick also has some new Starbuck hats as well. Of course we will have many of our normal items such as civilian shirts, elastic suspenders, officer shoulder boards, ambulance corps arm bands, and so much more so make sure you make us a destination while you are there. New on the web site are a number of new vidios made for the re-enacting community as well as pictures of Greg Starbucks latest project, webbing for the bullseye canteen, new music CDs, and we have added a video clip from "Wicked Spring" to the main page (of course you can also buy your very own copy of Wicked Spring while you are there). Of course our usual features are still going strong including our live on line tech service which we were the first (and I believe still the only) to offer. When the "On Line" signal is there you can quickly chat with one of us, often it will be myself, Lori, Tim, or most likely Nick himself. We also want to thank everyone for their support, since relaunching the website not too long ago we have regisrtered 851,000 hits. For such a small community this is fantastic, we thank each and every one of you, our dear friends who stopped by and got us here. Signed up for our newsletter yet? If not do so right away, the latest copy is about to go out with some fantastic new features including a "Customer Spotlight" feature. You can also learn about a surprising place to see our merchandise on the silver screen very soon. AND for you equipment afficianados, you can learn about a new forum where you can go to discuss everything and anything about the material culture with others who share your passion without the usual static we see so many other places. The only way to get all of this inside information? Come by our website at http://www.njsekela.com/OSCommerce/catalog/ to sign up for our completely FREE and highly educational newsletter. Nick, Lori, and I all look forward to seeing all of you in a couple of weeks. | |||
