I started out doing Civil War reenacting back in 1983 down in Texas but employment has been a big source of interuptions for me over the years. I am now retired and living back in my home state of Illinois, down around the Marion area and would like to know if there are any Union Infantry units in need of a professional shirker in their ranks.
I am 55 years old and can still walk 4 or 5 miles at a stretch but prefer to hide out when the work details are being filled. I seldom have to clean my weapon as I usually desert when the first volley is fired (the Southern spectators like seeing a Yankee flee the field) I have all of my gear, I am 6'1" 215lbs and the G-G-Grandson of a member of the 98th Illinois Infantry, part of Wilder's Brigade. Since you're from Egypt, you could do either Fed or Confederate.  A bunch of Southern IL boys headed for the South not long after Fort Sumter.
Amazing what one learns from reading; in this case, a bio of John Logan.

Ken, I figured Illinois isn't that far from Ohio.

Yeah, I am from Egypt, south of Marion near the Shawnee National Forest, Bloody Williamson County.
It is funny you mentioned Ohio and Illinois being close, I have been coast to coast, to Mexico several times, Europe a couple of times and to Asia once but I have never been to Ohio. It is only a couple of hours drive so I reckon I should meander over there some time.

Indy Ana ?
Ain't that where they have that big car race every year?
You know the one, where they drive fast, turn left all the time and go 500 mlies and end up the same place they started.
Please forgive my sarcasm. I had a senior moment.
