West Wind, Flood Tide, by Jack Friend, is the most recent look at the Battle of Mobile Bay.  It’s an easy read, but yet full of detailed information.  Mr. Friend lives on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay and has been studying the battle, the fortifications, and vessels involved for a long time.  This book would be a nice addition to your reading list.
