When I was putting up the post about Quaker guns, I thought I would check the OR's for any references to them..

Do you have a copy of: The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Record of the Union and Confederate Armies.

I've got the OR's on a CD-ROM from The Guild Press of Indiana. I've got a half inch stack of reports I took off, for just the portion of the Cross Keys battle we are doing at Neshaminy this year. It's a great tool.

I'd love to have a set of the actual books, but I don't know where I'd store them. I've run out of space for all the other CW books I already own.

Bill, the books are nice, but the search engine on the CD is fantastic.

I agree, but I find I often have trouble limiting my search enough to get a workable number of hits.

It's one of the best resources that's been made available to date. I own the Indiana Guild Press version and don't know how any of the other CD-ROMs work, but have been well pleased.

Also own the Naval OR's and the atlas on CD-ROM, in addition to the monster print volume of the atlas.

Oh to have enough money to buy anything I wanted for this hobby -- such as the ORs on CD ...a Federal Frock Coat ...a really good quality RD II ...& III ...a new double-bag knapsack ...even a copy of each drill manual ...&c.

Nope, no OR yet. I've longed for it, but have to satisfy myself with only the stuff I really need.

Charlie,

Nothing like cool free stuff, and this link is for some fellow out there in reenactorland who has never visited this useful site:

Mr. Forquer, don't let "the monster print volume of the atlas" get wet.  Mine got wet (not drenched--just wet)and it fell completely apart.  The binding dissolved.  It's probably just as well since you would get a hernia just picking it up.

Charles,

I didn't see the ORs on that site, they may have been there, but I missed them.  Therefore, I'll post the link to the free AND searchable ORs at
http://cdl.library.cornell.edu/moa/browse.monographs/waro.html

This site was really useful when needing to research for SFS and WOTJ, ITW, and many other events.

Almost everything's on the internet these days if you know where to look.

Linda.
