#2.  Unidentified Federal Private. Notice how short the collar on his frock is. I don't think those trowsers are issue?:

For the post/late war photo, does it have anything to do with his cap or the chair?

The Sgt's diamonds look to be solid rather than 4 seperate sides.

Dave,

The late war photo may be assumed to be due to the service stripe on the sleeves?
