Greg, I'm fairly certain they aren't issued. They have a pretty large whale for corderoy, so that's what I think they are. Nice pocket on the coat though!

I saw that pocket too. It would be neat to know what he is reading. Might guess it is a Bible.

On the third one in this latest group, it that a pinky ring? Are those metallic looking frames flimsy things or are they fairly substantial? What is the proper name for them? Are they actually metal? Some of them appear to be virtually new while the pictures are showing their age.

The Cases are usually made from a combinaton of cloth wood and metal. Fancy aren't they? Dulce, that's a Ambrotype, it's a mirror image of the subject. No breast plate on the last feller. And, what's that guy got in his pouch?

if an ambrotype (mirror image) wouldn't it show in the opposite order? "SU" instead of "US"?

That jacket belongs to a member of the 95th PVI, gosline's zouaves. The 72nd PA had the same issue jacket however they recieved a sky blue vest as well. The man in the photo is wearing a sky blue vest, yet has a sixth corps badge on his coat, denoting membership in the 95th, as the 72nd was in the 2nd corps.

Dave, Can you do a close up of the Minnesotans hat? Do you have a date on the image? The image with the two holding hands, the one on the right looks like gal troop. Rob
