What is the source for the Jackson photo on the 1st page? Just curious. I am not convinced it is Jackson. --Last edited by gwagner on 2008-01-24 15:14:18 --

I searched the LOC and couldn't find it. Can you post a link? I showed it to someone who said they believe that is Capt Hotchkiss, not Jackson. Are we sure it is him? It sure looks like him to me...

There must have been a photographer in this winter camp. Privates wearing great coats. A whole bunch of privates: Mounted Pattern Great Coat and a very nice tie: Are his trousers dark blue? Jaunty hat angle: Now, this guy has a "mounted" great coat and he liked his gum blanket so much he had it put on a chair and photographed with him: --Last edited by grumpydave on 2008-01-27 22:20:14 --

Sergeant, frock coat. The first thing I notice is how "heavy" a grade of wool that looks to be: Soldier and his lady: The kids: --Last edited by grumpydave on 2008-01-31 06:42:14 --

Take notice of how wide the parts are on the ladies hair styles. Their hair must be pulled back really tight.

That middle photo. the "lady" with the two horizontal stripes. Lose the earrings and add a forage cap and a sack coat. Hey, this smiley looks like me! --Last edited by grumpydave on 2008-02-15 20:21:38 --

Not necessarily Bill---the hairstyles don't require severe pulling to achieve. But if one simply parts the hair in the same place for oh, say 30 years, and slicks it down with pommade, that spot is always going to be there. --Last edited by Spinster on 2008-02-17 03:52:56 --
