Has anyone noticed, over the last several months, how much used gear is for sale on all of the most popular CW boards? Seems like it's a lot more than usual. Also, from time to time I have things for sale at Spiros' shop in Gettysburg, that usually don't last there for more than a month or two. Now, I may be bringing all of it home again after Rememberance Day as most of it has been there at least a year. Curious? Yes. Bad sign for our hobby? Yep.

We need another movie.

Dave,

Like most hobbies people come and go and family situations change. You are correct in that CW numbers are not gaining. I think quite a few of the younger guys are doing WW2. Hopefully for myself it looks like this fall I will be attending at least a few events. Finally getting settled and will be relocated by the 23rd of July.

A trend in the buying and selling is to buy specific items for a specific impression, then once done, sell it off to use the money to get the next great thing.

Shortly after the 140th of 1st Manassas there was a flurry of pre-war militia gear and the like which was sold off.

Yes, even I have sold something I've used once at an event to raise monies to buy another Item that's specific to an event. But, what I'm seeing is folks really "cleaning out their closets" or, "getting out" all together in an increasing frequency.

I cleaned out my closet recently - to make some money for better-quality upgrades!!  Go figure.

geez Noah, if you are getting better gear I guess you found a time machine somewhere so you can go back and get the real deal.
