I can pick out at least two guys wearing blanket rolls. One on the left and another on the right.

I was impressed by all the gear that is hanging on the stack.  That must be a pretty good mess to try to untangle.

Reminds me of those state highway workers.  One working and the rest supervising.

You will notice that the Georgia Department of Transportation S.O.P. goes back 140+ years

The late, great Lewis Grizzard said it best - "they've been working on the roads since the day after Sherman left and still haven't finished".

I live in the richest state in the country...North Carolina! We have so much money that we can afford to paint the official state joke on a big yellow sign and post it every 5 miles on EVERY road in the state. Yup, you guessed the OFFICIAL state joke..."Men Working".

I just wish they would have used some of that money to buy mile marker signs or highway markers for up in the mountains.

Years ago I was going heading north out of Boone.. or so I thought, the roads weren't clearly marked and I ended up driving about 30 miles south towards Marion, NC before I realized that I was going the wrong way.  And it was because there wasn't a single highway sign or mark saying you are on "221S" or "Marion 25 miles"..

Did you guys notice?

In that last photo, they moved the blankets to expose the dead men's faces.

I am not sure of the sequence of photos, but they could have been exposed and then after an attempt to identify them, they could have covered them up.  It looks like the last image is actually the start of the photos where there is a larger crowd and they are looking them over.  And the first image is actually where the workers are getting closer to being done..

In the 2nd image, could the man in the middle with the book be a local chaplin who is doing a service or maybe he is there to try to find a family member for someone.

I've always wondered if the guy in the upper left is a dead Federal.
