Thank you, Charles and Bill.

I'm 53, too d**med old to be doing this, and they'll have to pry my rifle musket out of my cold, dead hands to make me stop.  At least until the end of the 150th cycle....

Bernie,

After watching literally thousands of young folks come and go as if in a revolving door, anecdotal evidence suggest the fellows who discover this crazy CW hobby of ours at a more seasoned age tend to stick with it for a long while. Every time I think I see the end of the trail up ahead, something new and enjoyable comes along to explore. A basic problem is finding the time to explore those things to the fullest extent possible.

I have my then-seven yr. old son to thank for getting into this.  We went to the 140th G'burg reenactment.  I bought him a stainless steel canteen and myself an 1863 Springfield.  We talked to a number of reenactors during the weekend, and on Sunday he looked up at me and said, "Dad, can we do this?"

The rest is history.
