I see now, I googled and got an individual unit's schedule, but not the overall AOO battalion schedule. Do you guys have a battalion web page? armyoftheohio.com off their page was a dead link.

http://www.armyoftheohio.com/  works for me.

I was picturing a soldier on detached duty, but could do it whichever way you wanted.

Either way works for me.  I ve been starting to assemble a commissary chest.  What would you need?

I like the idea of this and knowing you by reputation only, I know my skills for interactive 1st person would enjoy the exercise.

It just depends on what they/you want served. I could bring some stuff too, of course.

If they want a full meal with separate meat, vegetables, sauces and dessert, I'd need a minimum of one tripod and kettle, plus a smaller container like a frying pan. I could make the dessert ahead and serve it cold, then reuse the kettle for the meat and veggies.

I'm guessing they'd have plates and such?

With a second kettle or bake kettle I could do most anything and serve it all hot.

Also of course a coffee pot for coffee.

At September Storm, all I had was a big frying pan, a coffee pot, a pocket knife and a stick I whittled to stir with, so that works well too. But that's a much simpler one-dish meal.

Doesn't really matter, I can pretty much cook with whatever's available, and make it as simple or complicated as you want.

For food storage, the usual poke sacks are fine, unless they're wanting to get into the fancy stuff like catsups, pickles, jelly and such, where you need a lot of little containers that hold liquids.

Hank...sounds like we are on the same page.  My basic commissary chest includes a tripod, small skillet, large mucket, small dipper, knives etc.  I need to get a set of nesting kettles.  I ordered a new coffee pot from John Crabb at Ezra Barnhouse for AHT.  Over the years I've purchased a number of period boxes from Gary Remy including two bread boxes, so I can tote alot of stuff if needed.
FOr AHT, the officers will have fresh bread, slab bacon, hard meats & cheeses, cottage hams, coffee, dried fruits, farina, brown bread with raisins etc.  Some event I d like to do a side of beef as I've got a antique meat saw I'd love to try.

Sounds good! I'm an orderly for a Confederate assistant surgeon at AHT and am cooking for just him, so I'm only bringing a small frying pan. I'm bringing salt pork, Indian meal, molasses, lard, and planning to forage butter, milk, cherries and white sugar during the event, and he's bringing biscuits. So we'll have the usual salt pork and hoe cakes or mush, plus some treats like cherries on biscuits with milk sauce. Need to cook it all up quick because I'm also clerking and knapsack-carrying for him too.

I'll be on site late Thursday afternoon.  Planning to do the Western Brigade march from the PA monument to the event site Friday.  Maybe our paths will cross at some point.
