 Yes, if I'm registered for
the event; expect buckets of rain.

Most of us have seen this place before:

Now look closer:

I asked tom Holbrook of the NPS at Gettysburg about that red rag. It would seem "free climbers" went up the monument after hours and tied that big red rag at the top of the PA monument at Gettysburg. Darned Vandals!

Procedure:
1) Take the red thing off the monument
2) Shoot the next SOB who tries it again.

NPS says... we don't have the money to obtain the equipment to get it down.

Too bad some volunteer free climbers can't help, but I am sure there is a legal issue involved etc. Maybe we all donate say $10.00 and pay for the cherry picker to come in and remove the rag.

I do not understand why things like this are done to monuments etc.

While it sinks that some jerk did that .....

at least they didn't damage the monument.

I try to be thankful for the small things.

What a bunch of inconsiderate jerks! I understand the want to do "extreme type sports", heck I just got back from a dive trip; but there are appropriate places and non appropriate places. Memorials to me are like grave markers, they deserve to be respected out of consideration for those memorialized and their families. Want to free climb? There are plenty of places with cliffs and such where the sport can be enjoyed.
