Greg -

The demonstration on Saturday afternoon was to show the distance between the guns according to the book. Naturally, terrain always dictates what you are, or aren't, able to do.

I almost wonder if the guns weren't placed so close together due to the field of vision of the camera without losing any detail in the image. There does, however, appear to be enough space to allow the limber teams to pass to the left of the guns in order to limber up.

Of all the demonstrations this weekend that one did help the information sink in.  It was neat to be at the right section and then to look over to the left section and they be as far away as they were.  It is like seeing skirmish drill done with the correct pacings and with a 25+ company, it gives you a sense of how large the area was.

The distances may have been scaled due to the photo or for the drill, but it still shows how tight they might be.  Even on saturday we saw that it would not be easy or sensible to pass a column through a battery unless you really had to.
