I took this post off the Reenactor Forum. The guy in question is in my home unit.

Looking for a Ride to the McDowell Event

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of my pards needs a ride to the McDowell Event. He and I were supposed to travel together but I have to back out because of work.

He lives in the Philadelphia area (Bensalem) and can leave on Friday morning.

Please RSVP to ronald.lauser@unisys.com if you can help.

Thanks

 Yes, if I'm registered for
the event; expect buckets of rain.

Tell him to go to the nearest enlistment center. join a Federal unit. They'll put him on a train to Camp Curtin. From there he can ask to transfer to a unit that's headed for McDowell. Then the Federal army would put him on a train for Baltimore then to Washington City and then maybe on one headed twords western Virginia. He may have to walk a piece though. I hear there's mostly Unionists in Western Virginia so, he should be OK.

That's mostly OK but in the CW there weren't no transfers. Lots of trains and walkin' though.

Ah well then with the lack of railroads in the south he'll just have to walk

Did this feller find a ride?  If not, he might be able to hitch up with me. I live just minutes off I-95, north of Baltimore.
Email me at cjkibler@comcast.net ASAP to let me know.
