I am pround to announce that the town of Fort Recovery,Ohio home to America's bloodiest defeat ever is hosting the very first " Civil War at the Fort " on Sept. 10th, 11th, 12th 2010 at Ambassador Park. Here are some of the highlights to look forward to.

1.20 lb. of ice for  $1.00
2.Seasoned hickory wood(as much as you can burn)
3.Showers
4.Lavish meal on Saturday night and Friday evening(if you participate in school day)
5.NO registration fee
6.Live Artillery Demo
7.Two battles and a Sunday tactical
8.$3.00 gold coin/pound of 3FFF powder per day for each Infantry rifle.
9.Entrenchments and fortifications. They own the property and they intend to have this event every year after 2010 so the entrenchments may become a permanent thing. The Ambassador club has already invested $15,000 in this show and it is more than  a year away.

Here is a video that shows the grounds.

Fort Recovery is a Rev War site, is it not?  Could you clarify if there was ever any CW action here, such as skirmishing or maybe Morgan came through?

Being from Ohio, I'm all for new CW events, but I just want to make sure our members are guided correctly with the history.

Also, you need to sign all of your posts with your full name.  It's one of the few rules we live by here.

Thanks!

Hallo!

It is an Indian War (1791-1795) site.

The original Fort Recovery was built near the site of Arthur St. Clair's diasterous defeat in 1791, it was built on orders from Mad Anthony" Wayne in 1793, as part of his "leap frog" strategy of forts and supply bases, and was attacked by a coalition of Indians in 1794.

Morgan entered into Ohio north of Cincinatti and just south of Harrison, which is much to the south of Fort Recovery.

IIRC, the fort was dismantled afer the War of 1812 when the threat of Indians was gone, and the frontier border had gone west of the former Ohio/Indiana line?
