I asked my wife about your question. She said that wedding dresses, of the period, were often of a dark color. She doubted the dress would have been black. The dark green would have been a good bet. | |||

The average woman of the mid 19th century would just wear her best dress she owned. The wealthy would have a special dress, but very few I have seen were white..one or two ivory over the years, but usually a dark color. | |||
