Everyone, please welcome Annette Bethke as our new citizen moderator.  Annette is from Texas, so she will most likely give us a western view point on things. She is not new to the hobby!  I will let her introduce herself.

Hey everyone. I'm Annette Bethke. As Ken said, I am from Texas. I've been involved in living history for about 20 years or so in California and here in Texas. My research focus is the citizen experience in Texas during the Civil War (it was a bit different than the rest of the South's); however, I am familiar with the experiences in the rest of the South and the North as well. I lean toward being more progressive/authentic but I don't call myself hard core. I understand that this is a hobby and we all have our own way of enjoying it. I personally enjoy the living history and educational part of the hobby, but it was the clothes that first lured me .  

I'm looking forward to our conversations on this forum, and meeting other fellow lovers of history.

Also should have mentioned I work for the Texas Historical Commission in the Cemetery Preservation Program. Nope, can't tell you where your granddad is buried but I can tell you how to protect his final resting place .

I'm a civilian with the 6th OVI. and I do enjoy reading things on this site.
I've been in the hobby for a few years,1995 is when my daughter and I started doing living history,she dropped out as she got older but I enjoyed the history of the hobby and stayed. I  also have a ladies group in Cincinnati called "Ladies Living History Society.
