Thomas Affleck cautions people sending cash to purchase items from his nursery. "Uncle Sam's mail is not very trustworthy where cash remittances are concerned! When money is sent through the mail, the notes had best be cut in two, and mailed at different times, registering the letters." Affleck's Southern Rural Almanac and Plantation and Garden Calendar for 1860 pg. 13 Anyone else heard or read of such a thing? | |||
