I just came across this information on the Robertson Plantation. It has one of the few extant pre-CW era slave quarters and the main house is still occupied by family.

Thought it might be of interest to some here.

Annette,

Thanks for the site link.....well preserved piece of property. Is not there a name for that type of architecture in Texas as built during that time period? I have seen a few examples on television and always enjoy seeing the homes etc. have you been to the plantation? Looks like a good place to have a living history.

Yes, it's Greek Revival with the columns and such. I haven't been to this one as it has always been and still is private property and has never been open. They are talking about opening it now. , I thought the same thing about living history there, it would be great. This house is mentioned in "Behind the Big House" as the slave quarters are still standing.

The house is similar to another plantation home near Houston, Liendo Plantation http://www.liendo.org/; we do have events there.
