Sometimes I really wish I lived on the east coast. THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF FREDERICK COUNTY, Maryland and the Catoctin Center for Regional Studies present: The Fifth Annual History Symposium Pursuing a Change of Place American Tourists of the 19th Century Friday, 18 September, 9:00 am- 3:15pm Frederick Community College, Cougar Café A light breakfast and lunch are provided. Pre-Registration Required; $75 for HSFC members, $85 general admission The Historical Society of Frederick County is hosting a scholarly symposium on 19th century tourism on September 18th from 9:00am to 3:15pm. This program is presented in conjunction with the new exhibit, “In and Out of Frederick County; 300 Years of Travel and Tourism,” which runs at The Museum of Frederick County History from June through 2010. The symposium features several speakers who will present programs of various aspects on American tourism in and out of the United States. Topics include: photography and the tourist experience, Barbara Fritchie as a tourist icon, African American tourist destinations, and the Grand Tour.
