Nice image of some soldiers resting.  The photo is labeled as outside of Petersburg.  Looks like there are some playing cards, reading the papers, reading letters..

 Yes, if I'm registered for
the event; expect buckets of rain.

Payne's Farm late fall, 2005. Bill is to my right somewhere. Charles is over there behind the trees working his Kabuki butt off.  And, well, I just like this picture:

A gutta percha sack coat and forage cap wouldn't keep you dry If I'm attending an event.

Grumpy,

Those greatcoats sure came in handy later that evening. To paraphrase Dusty, "it's shame so many so called "campaigners" within a 3-hour radius of that event just couldn't bother to attend."

That evening did require a spoonin' partner.

Grumpy Dave,

Yeah, about a half mile to your right!

Yep, in those woods, waaaaayyyyy over there on the right, where, I'd end up on a Federal skirmish line.

Grumpy,

Of the bang-bang shoot'em up portions of the event, I really enjoyed that skirmish in the woods the best. I saw you, but it really wasn't a good time to stop and say hello!

One of the lessons learned from Payne's Farm is not all federals can identify a sweet potato. Those who know the rest of the story will find this more than simply amusing.

Those who don't, well, break out the sweet potato recognition cards, just in case.  smile/hapface01.gif
