Pardon my ignorance but being only ten months into reenacting AHT, GAC, etc. are foreign phrases for me.  Could you please enlighten an old "new fish".  thanks.

AHT is the event called "At High Tide", brought to you by the Western Md. Heritage Foudation and Chris Anders.

GAC is the annual Gettysburg reenactment brought to you by the Gettysburg Anniversary Committee.

Tom, it's explained on the first page of this thread.

Wow, Cupcake, that's a well reasoned statement you made about two events being a good thing.

Silas,

That would be four events, and counting.

Charles, Cupcake only discussed two events, not four.  I'm guessing you're talking about a living history being event #3 and something run by Boyd's Bears being #4.  I suspect you're including Pickett's Mill, which is in the same time zone as the Gettysburgs, but is on the other side of the big scary mountains.

The firestorm that's been burning on this forum and on Planet Szabo is really funny.  The event organizer of one is trying to do it as right as he possibly can, and he's taking flak from both ends of the true spectrum.  Haven't heard a word from the folks running the other event, but prospective attendees of said event have been very vocal.  Either way, we're talking about a pair of mainstream events - one with standards and one without.

If this pseudo firestorm is the most important thing consuming keyboard campaigners this fall and winter, then life must be pretty good.

He may also be referring to a "carpe eventum" and history march associated with '08 G'burg.

Silas,

I'd forgotten about Boyd's Bears hiving listories and skirmishes, and failed to add the annual event in South Dakota, but from the looks of things the fine folks at Pickett's Mill aren't doing much in the way of a Gettysburg themed event, if what Tripp posted today is any indication, so let's see where this stands at the moment:

1. Gettsyburg at GAC Mega Event (GAGME)

2. Yingling Andersburg Happening Of Ours* (YAHOO)

3. Doug's Asphalt Sixth Corps March. (DASCM)

4. Boyd's Bears in Greenmount (BBIG)

5. Gettysburg in South Dakota (GISD)

6. NPSLH (up to 3 at once)

7. Do Nothing Alternative (DNA)

*I just like the acronym, and couldn't find a better 2nd O that dovetailed with a common Sopranos reference.

Not to be a barbarian, but I'm not completely convinced GAGME is up to the level of mainstream, but it hasn't happened yet, and porcine aviation is possible with the right wind conditions.

It's beginning to look like another Mainstream thread has been turned around and used to denigrate the mainstream.

Don't you guys have your own sandbox to play in?
