To all:

What's Santa going to bring you, (Reenacting wise)? I get a new kepi, Artillery with my rank. Never had one, Santa gets to look early. Keep it Lite (not beer). It's is the Holidays.

Doug,

Last year I received a defarbed Enfield Rifle Musket for Christmas. That was CW shooting iron number five!  smile/hapface01.gif

I doubt I'll be getting anything else this year. My wife says I'm a little tough to buy for!  smile/eek.gif

I have been very generous with myself this year.  Bought an original pocket knife, a civilian sack coat and a new pair of Robert Land shoes.  All three will be waiting for me under the tree on the 25th.

Somebody has to do it.  I've been waiting 25 years for my family to buy me SOMETHING to do with reenacting...

I had a really neat list.......until the vacuum cleaner conked out tonight. Anybody checked out what those suckers cost these days? I guess it would be bad form to make that a Christmas gift!?

Mark,

Remember that old Southern saying, "If Mamma ain't happy, then  ain't no one happy," thus the obvious solution to the vacuum cleaner quandry.

Sir,

Buying your female spouse or significant other an appliance that makes work for them, for Christmas, is not a good idea. Trust me. Laptop good, vaccume bad. Bread machine OK, carpet steamer bad. The reverse situation is somehow though, appropriate.

As for me, if I bring any more CW stuff in the house, I'll be sleeping with the dog or the fishes.

I told my lovely wife not to get me anything since I spent enough this year on Reenacting gear.

The bad thing is she agreed almost instantly!

That must mean have a problem,

I am receiving my Iverness coat that I had ordered.  I also got my very own laptop.  It was about time   .  My wife & kids hated it when I got on her laptop or the desktop of the kids smile/mad.gif .  They claimed I spent to much time on it "Doing Civil War Stuff."
As you can see Christmas came early for me.

Dulcie,

That goes both ways. One year Sandy gave me a suitcase for Christmas. I gently reminded her that for me, a suitcase wasn't really a gift. It was just another tool of the trade.

Being of sound mind, I did not bring this subject up anywhere close to Christmas.

I dunno, I like a good vacuum cleaner.  Course I already got one earlier this year, so that's off my list now. Long haired double-coated dog + long hair on me = vacuum cleaners that die after 2 weeks, literally!  smile/mad.gif  That's why I love my new Dyson Animal -- expensive yes, but it's still going!

i killed a vacuum just as fast Linda... Im hard on vacuums (I have long hair too).  I blew that thing up, nothing like smoke and flames coming from a vacuum.

You ladies are tough. Have you considered a nice shop-vac? A machine that picks up wood chips and small nails ought to work for hair, human or canine.
