Grumpy,

I received my kit the other day. I have been extremely impressed with all the pre-event information I've received, not to mention items like the mailimg kit. It's obvious the organizers are putting a lot of effort into the "Winter of '64".

Imagine, me a minister. And, the oldest officer.

Browning, I don't know if you noticed the mention of the 151st NYVI at Wapping Heights, but that was part of the overall background information for DM IX last August.  Easing through the text provided by Doug and Terri ould be good reading for some.

You a minister? Well, stranger things are in the works I suppose....

Guys,

Important question. How do I get there? I looked all over the list-server and i couldn't find directions to the site. Not saying they aren't there, just that I couldn't find them.  smile/indecis.gif

 Yes, if I'm registered for
the event; expect buckets of rain.

Bill shoot me an e-mail and, if I get a turn on the computer this evening, I'll send you the address so you can map quest.

Thanks Dave,

That's what I was looking for. Map Quest doesn't work too well without a "zipper".

Acording to Pete "Lankey" Smith of the Columbia Rifles, who lives in the area, "There's snow on the ground and more on the way. Better make sure your shoe laces are in good repair and your bootees are waterproofed."

Temperatures look like they'll be in the mid 20's with a light wind for the event. Some of the staff will be arriving on site, shortly, yes, shortly and the participants will begin arriving in a few, very short days. Most of the participants have never attended a 4 day event. Yes, Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and till about 11-ish on Sunday. The 151st NY has no monument on any Civil War Battlefield, even though they participated, with the Army of the Potomac, in most every major fight from Mine Run to Appomotax. For them, Cold Harbor and the seige of Petersburg were no picnic. The officer who I am to portray, lead 5 companies at the Battle of the Crater. We'll try to "build" them one again this upcomming week. Safe passage and God speed to all of those who are attending.

when I got home well, I hung up my uniform and piled my baggage in the basement, showered, ate something that didn't contain pork, beans, cabbage and rice, then I fell asleep. I just downloaded 170 plus photo's and two short movies into my computer. First, I have to get them onto the W64 yahoo group. Then, I'll post some of them here. After of course, I finish unpacking.

Can't wait to see the AAR on this event and some of the photos.  I spent the weekend in the house with my son who had at times a 102 degree fever..
