Posted 11/03/2008 11:34:31 PM | | Just wanted to post the first 2 living histories of the season that are "Dippin Gourd Mess" endorsed. I will be at both. Not much in the area of LH has been going on around Nashville, its finally starting to loosen up-show your support!
March 29th, NASHVILLE, TN at Granbury's Lunette. Here is the history....... Granbury's lunette was the extreme right of the Confederate infantry under Gen. Cheatham. Following the battle of Franklin, Grandbury's Texas brigrade was reduced to 344 men and led by Capt. Edward T. Broughton. (Gen. Grandbury was killed at the Franklin battle the month before) The Lunette was attacked Dec. 15, 1864 by Gen. Steedman, under whom were Colonels, Shafter and Corbin. The U.S. Army retreated north and east with heavy losses.
This will be a small Confederate LH. Remember this is the Battle of Nashville, (late war) 1864.
We are planning to do this Sat, March 29th. from 9 am to 5 pm.
I also plan on putting out a few signs to invite the public to drop by.
Grandbury's lunette is located at 190 Polk Ave. Nashville, TN.
April 18-20th FRANKLIN, TN at Fort Granger. This is an annual LH that has never really had much put into it, and is a great oppurtunity for us to get a good foothold on Granger. This is a late war Federal LH, we are portraying Company A, 123d Indiana. There is some need for limited number of citizens.
Contact me about either or both of these LH's, I hope to see a bunch of you guys in the next couple of weeks.
