So have any of you had the chance to contrast and compare Woolrich's Jeans to originals? Or at the very least just seen it and made a quick opinion?

Yep, Woolrich "wool" cloth is all a wool polyester plend. Tis right up da road in Woolrich, PA. They made a lot of blankets during the CW. Nice red ones too. A lot of the early PA and Mass. units that passed through Camp Crutin got the red blankets.

if you need anything from the woolrich store, just let me know, we live half a mile from it.

the blankets and wools online are 15% nylon BUT if you go into their store they do have 100% wool (not sure about the denim, i can go and check if you would like just let me know). the 100% wool is in a few colours, i know its in navy blue and skyblue and i believe a few other colours. its about $25 a yard...but dont recall the exact..maybe its $24.

if you want me to check, just say the word and i will. the store carries a lot more than online. and if you are going to the store on your own, let me know, ill have you over for dinner... we are somewhere down the road of fir trees!!

Joey,

We visited the store last year, and the wool and jeanwool products are in the far right corner in the back of the building. If you visit in person, or have them send you some swatches, you'll be able to tell which of the four major makers made the jeancloth for Woolrich in just a few seconds. At that point, you can make your decision.

Wow there are 4 makers? I only know of 2 since FHW got out of the game.  I wish I could get up to the store to  look...however being in deepest darkest Southern GA I think day trip is out. I am contacting them about swatches however so maybe oneday I will get them.

Joseph... let me know if you dont and I can get them for you. Also... there are some you wont get swatches for, they simply dont sell a lot of their fabrics online or anything.

I didnt know they had 4 makers either.

Last month they had their warehouse sale...waited 4 hrs to get into it! I was hoping they had some of their blankets there, but no luck. Though I got some awesome fleece camouflage blankets, they simply wont work for reenactments..

Last year i bought a bolt of there Oxford on brown jeans cloth for what it costs   it is i guess worth it  there was a thread on the AC website decussion its flaws   but it seems the the wool cotton content is as stated   the one flaw i found is claim thats "its ready to cut" isn't true at least on the bolt i bought   ive got a really short N.C. depot jacket to prove it   it needs to be set by soaking in in warm water and line dryed to draw up the cotton threads
