Ok..So here I am...totally new to the re-enacting business (did I put this correctly) Have been a lover of history since I can remember...and have a wonderful boyfriend who is very much into re-enacting and has been so for the last 17 years. He's pushed me (wonderfully) into trying this as a civillian. And I am ecstatic at the opportunity to do so..however..I have a not a  clue on how to dress, what I need, so on and so forth. My wonderful boyfriend has an inkling...but he's a guy..and well yeah. So!! ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!

NikkiG,

You it would be best if you asked this question over in the Citizen area.  The ladies there will help you tremendoulsy.

By the way, we ask that you sign your posts with your first and last names.  And to have them in your profile as well.

A lot will depend on what kind of events you'll be going to.  There are many kinds of reenacting. You might be camping in a wall tent on the company street with your boyfriend and cooking his meals in between attending balls and teas. Or you might be portraying a local resident along with other civilians in a house provided by the event, and hiding from the bullets or caring for the wounded.

So despite your boyfriend being a guy , it really might help to start by asking him what the women usually do at the events you'll be attending with him, and what they consider the basic necessities to do those things.
