Alright, who's up on period tentage?

I traded for a Sibley about 10 years ago. it is not the huge-sized one that can fit a whole bunch of people in it. I'd say it was 3/4 sized. Was told that it was an "officer's sibley". However, I've never done any research to check out that reference. Anybody know? Period photographs of different-sized sibleys?

It's about 12' tall, has front and back doors, and a rain/vent hood at the top...

 I have the same tent, I just use it for camping because it is easy to set up. I'm afraid it's not an officer's Sibley,, it's just a modern scaled down version.

I also have a Sibley tent that I purchased used.

You state that it is easy to set up. I am a novice with tents. Could you please go over how you set it up please?

Two folks hold the center pole and two folks pound stakes on opposite sides. You straighten the pole as needed.

 The way I do it is, I lay the tent out and stake it out in three places, then I put the center pole in and up, the three stakes should hold it up. Then I just start at the back door, and start stretching and staking. I can set it up by myself in about 10 minutes.
The original ones had a tripod that the center pole sat in, up off the ground, and the stove sat under the tripod. THe pole had a pulley, and you hoisted the tent up like a sail.
I used to have some documentation for this method, but can't find it due to a move.
I have also seen pictures of Sibley's with external pole set ups.

That's the way I do it also (if I can't get help). I also use mine for modern camping. It's a real conversation piece at a State Park campground, let me tell you!
