Howdy,

I am planning on sewing an early war battle flag of silk and am having trouble finding out what type of silk to use.  I've read a couple references to dress silk but I'm not entirely sure what type of silk that is.  Would a china silk or a crepe work?  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks.

you would probably be happiest with a taffeta, as china silk would be fairly thin and crepe has a pebble-y texture.
