My new original 1821 officers saber is just fine with its mammoth ivory task hilt thank you... However, been thinking about doing just that to my 1850 S&F.... Pards,

If "re-acking" ever wears out the skin on my original, I might think about it. It hasn't worn out after 145 years, I hope it doesn't go in the few years I have left. I like carrying an original. It beats carrying a crow bar.

Rob, There are advantages to carrying a repop Butter Knife. It makes a great machete and is also useful for prying rocks out of your sleeping area.
