Craig,

Any idea on cost of those yet? I am referring to wholesale. Also, any word on another printing of the CRRC 2?

I came across another source for the "CRRC". Ertil Publishing is offering it for sale at $39.95. Their web site is: www.antiguepowergiftshop.com

I saw this advertisment in the latest issue of the "Civil War Historian".

I'm always the last to jump on a fad, so I finally got "Cadet Gray" a few weeks ago at Fort McAllister, and I don't know why I waited.  Its a fantastic source of contemporary research and my hats off to the writer/compiler.  It is an excellent resource to stand next to the CRRC.

the book is a "must have", and blows all previous attempts away.

Hey Ross good to see you post here!

It is really up to Bill Christen, Watchdog Asst Editor John Tobey and the CRs club as to what they do regarding CRRC # 2 relative to any reprinting, etc. I don't have anything to do with the CRRC # 2 project at all, or very little.

CC&BB of course was written by Tom Arliskas with assistance from Bill Adams, these are the two other EICs along with me for "Wearing the Gray". As far as when it will be published, the best I can offer there is it will be ready when we are satisfied with it. We (the editors) will meet at the N-SSA Nationals at Winchester, Va in mid-May 2008, at which point some firmer dates may be decided. The original planned publication date of late 2008 is no longer realistic.

I mostly do Confederate (occasionally Federal, as at Glendale-Malvern Hill), and have found both books to be extremely valuable.

All,

I read in a previous messages about if "Hardtack and Coffee" was still in print.... I saw it at Borders Books store just last weekend 7/12/08.

"Hard Tack and Coffee" is just one of the sacred texts, and in a few places it's contradicted by other more or less contemporary sources, like "Si Klegg."  That's where the CRRC gets really helpful -- the authors and editors have done an enormous amount of work trying to sort out all the original sources, and they give you those sources so you can follow up on your own.  But no one work is infallible.  Heck, I even found a mistake in Kautz's Company Clerk -- and let me tell you, THAT was a traumatic experience

AbeBooks.com has used copies of "Hardtack and Coffee" available for anywhere between $1.00 dollar and $13.00 dollars. The Time-Life edition, which is what I own, is selling for $10.00 dollars.

This company has an excellent selection of out-of-print Civil War Books. It's where I got my copy of "Rags and Hope".
